Five Gettysburg College Alumni — John Rudy ’07, Nick Lorenz ’08 and Stephen McNamee ’09; Teri Gillmor ’10 & Jacob Dinkelaker (Gettysburg Semester Student) ’09 — wrote and starred in a dramatic performance titled “Battle Studies: Stories from the Students of Pennsylvania College,” which was performed the summer of 2010 at a special interpretive campfire program in the Gettysburg National Military Park. Alice Goffman, Assistant Professor of Sociology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, is our 31st Annual Urban Studies Public Lecturer. Examines the use of narratives in speech and in research analysis. Beginning with a look at the range of ways narratives might be analysed such as linguistic, structural and thematic. Attention is then turned to some of the functions of narrative. This was a lecture given to postgraduate (graduate) students at the University of Huddersfield as part of a course on Qualitative Data Analysis.
